GOVERNANCE

The NGO is the expression of theAssociates’ Assembly which, every three years, elects the Executive Board composed of members with different backgrounds (age, skills). The Executive Board chooses the President, Vice-president, Secretary and the Treasury. .

Associates'Assembly

It is the body responsible for the organizational strategy; in general, its tasks are:

Appointment of official positions
Approval of annual budget and final balances
Definition of program choices and of the annual plan of the NGO

Associates of CO.P.E are: founders and natural people admitted by the Executive Board.
Natural people that have manifested interest for the Association and that have participated in its initiatives in the previous three months, can make a written request to become Associates; the Executive Board decides through deliberation.
Associates in order with their membership fee can participate in the Assembly; each associate can choose to be represented by others through a mandate. Each associate cannot express more than 1 vote.

Executive Board
It is the administration body. It is responsible for ensuring the coherent organization, taking into account the NGO’s values, its missions and the Associates Assembly provisions. It:

defines the political-programmatic activities’ directions
deliberates: admissions, withdrawals, declines, exclusion of associates
approves or modifies the internal rules
manages employers and collaborators

The Executive Board is constituted of a minimum of 5 members; it can be confirmed or modified by the Assembly during the renewal period, every 3 years.
The bishop, President of the Commission for the Cooperation among Churches of the Episcopal Conference of Sicily, is a member by right.
After the election of officers, during the Associates'Assembly 2022, 7 counselors, 4 men and 3 women: they meet, on average, each month. Every Counselor is given a mandate on a specific sphere; the counselor collaborates with the designed staff.

Monitoring body

Considering the statutory changes, the presence of auditors is non compulsory; for this reason, during the 2019 assembly, no appointment of new auditors has taken place.

As required by the law, the Associates’ Assembly, during the edition of December 2020, has appointed a Monitoring Body, monocratic, that has the following tasks:

Monitoring the observance of law, of the statute and on principles of a proper administration;
Check the adequacy and the functioning of the organizational, administrative, accounting layout;
Monitoring the observation of civic, solidaristic, social purpose;
Conduct inspection, checks anytim.

Furthermore, in 2020, the body adopted a Code of Ethics, as required by the law.
