In this section of our website, we will try to tell you about COPE projects following a correlation criterion between the main objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the objectives that form the basis of our intervention in the various countries in which we operate, including Italy!
What is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development?
It is a action program for people, the planet and prosperity.
Signed on 25 September 2015 by the governments of the 193 member countries of the United Nations, and approved by the UN General Assembly, the Agenda consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals – Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs – framed within a broader action program consisting of 169 targets or goals, associated with them, to be achieved in the environmental, economic, social and institutional fields by 2030.
This program does not solve all the problems but it represents a good common basis from which to start to build a different world and give everyone the opportunity to live in a sustainable world from an environmental, social and economic point of view.
The objectives set concern and involve all countries and components of society, from private companies to the public sector, from civil society to information and culture operators.
The 17 Goals refer to a set of important issues for development that take into consideration in a balanced way the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and ecological – and aim to end poverty, fight against inequality, address climate change, build peaceful societies that respect human rights.
